Bird | 2016

multimedia dance conceived with Thomas Vacanti, performed by Vacanti Ballet, 40 min

The project called Bird (2016) uses Hans Christian Andersen's tale The Nightingale as inspiration. Rather than telling the original narrative through dance, the choreography and projections are a meditation on the nightingale (the bird that sings at night), emphasizing the power dynamic between the caged bird and its keeper. The video projections were responsive to the dancers, some of them live others on pre-recorded video, in order to explore the contrast between the mechanical and the natural versions of the bird in Anderson’s narrative.
